Though the Robyn Hitchcock-led Soft Boys only recorded two complete studio albums (their debut, A CAN OF BEES, and its incredible follow-up, UNDERWATER MOONLIGHT), their influence since their early-'80s demise proved considerable; R.E.M. is only one of the big names who regularly sing their praises. This collection features singles and outtakes recorded in the late '70s, but not originally released until 1983. Far from being a mere batch of leftovers, INVISIBLE HITS stands as a fine companion to the rest of the Soft Boys' neo-psychedelic work and includes a number of gems, including "Have A Heart, Betty (I'm Not Fireproof)," "Blues In The Dark," and "He's A Reptile." This band came and went before many people even knew of their existence. Interest in their small-but-potent catalog has only grown in the decades since they disbanded, a testament to just how formidable they were in their brief lifetime.
