A combination of rock, jazz, blues, funk, and folk music, Spirit have collaborated with legendary musicians from each of those genres. Jimi Hendrix, Thelonius Monk, and Ry Cooder are just three of their many admirers and associates. During a thirty year career that spanned 1967 through 1997, Spirit made several critically-acclaimed albums. This concert, recorded in 1978, marks the band's induction into the ROCKPALAST hall of fame, and serves as a fitting tribute to the late frontman, Randy California, who drowned off the coast of Hawaii while attempting to rescue his son from a rip current.
