Eagles of Death Metal: Jesse Hughes (vocals, guitar, percussion); Josh Homme (guitars, slide guitar, piano, bass guitar, drums, percussion, background vocals). Personnel: Kim Martinelli, The Dream Boys, Brody Dalle (vocals); Dave Catching (guitars, bass guitar); Tony Bevilaqua, Alain Johannes (horns); Brian O'Conner (bass guitar); Sharlotte Gibson, Nayana Smith, Eagleettes (background vocals). From their goofy name to singer Jesse "The Devil" Hughes's porno mustache, Eagles of Death Metal looked like a trifle. Three albums in, however, the band has emerged as a relentlessly fun sex-rock vehicle. HEART ON keeps the party going, slicking their desert trash blues with ZZ Top beats without neglecting the "Eagles" part of their name. Boozy country rock like "How Can a Man With So Many Friends Feel So All Alone" and "Now I'm a Fool" come off like a fuzzed-out version of their famous namesake. "WannaBe In L.A." is the perfect example of their style, however. Casually debauched, breezy, and propulsive, it sounds like a pair of cheap sunglasses.

クイーンズ・オブ・ザ・ストーン・エイジのジョシュ・オムがドラムを叩く趣味性の強いプロジェクト……という認識だったが、この3作目はかなり本気モードだ。良い意味で下品なセクシーさは保持しつつ、より純度を増したロックンロールを鳴らしていて、まるで70年代初頭のローリング・ストーンズのような曲もある。〈おバカ〉的なイメージは捨て、優れたロック・アルバムとして向き合うべし。
