The career of contemporary reggae singer Jah Cure was interrupted by a lengthy court case and jail sentence, but none of this stopped Cure himself from continuing to create. In fact, some of 2009's THE UNIVERSAL CURE, including the powerful "Reflections," was written while Cure was in the penitentiary. Yet Cure's music isn't tainted by the bitterness of his experience. Instead, it boasts a roots sound mixed with just a dash of contemporary R&B, and still displays the singer's commitment to Rastafarian ideals of peace and social justice.

マイアミのR&B／ヒップホップ・レーベルからのリリースというのもビックリだけど、中身も凄い。フロウ・ライダー、マヴァード、ジュニア・リードと名前を聞いただけで鳥肌モノのメンツを揃えた“Hot Long Time”は実にスリリングだし、歌い出しのチョイタメがダンスホール好きの心を必ずやくすぐるであろう“Call On Me”にはキーシャ・コールが参加と、超強力な仕掛けを用意している。他にも、ナイヤビンギ調の“Reflections”や〈Mission〉使用の“Green Grass”などシングル曲が盛りだくさん。みずからの境遇を重ねたに違いないアシャ“Jailer”のカヴァーに象徴されるように、悲劇のシンガーはやはり今作でも自由（＋自身の潔白）を訴えている。その運命に決着がつくのは果たしていつなのか?
