Curtis Mayfielｄ在籍時にリリースされたシングルのA面、B面を全て収録したコンプリート音源集！1958年、シカゴでJerry Butler、Curtis Mayfield、Sam Gooden、Richard＆ArthurのBrooks兄弟の5人で結成されたR&Bグループ。結成当初はドゥワップがレパートリーの中心だったが、Curtis Mayfieldが音楽的な舵取りを行うようになり革新的なR&Bグループへと変貌していった。ゴスペル、ソウル、ラテン等彼らの音楽には様々なテイストが溶け込んだユニークなサウンドで多くの人を魅了した。

A more accurate title for this two-disc anthology would be The Complete ABC A- and B-Sides 1961-1968 since it does not contain the 1968 singles the Impressions released on Curtom. Some of those 1968 Curtom singles, including "Fool for You" and "This Is My Country," were among the group's most successful, peaking within the Top Ten of Billboard's R&B chart. Those songs can be had on any of several other anthologies, and though this set lacks them, it is still substantial. It's highlighted by "Gypsy Woman" (number two R&B, 1961), "It's All Right" (number one R&B, 1963), "Keep on Pushing" (number 10 pop, 1964), and "People Get Ready" (number three R&B, 1965). ~ Andy Kellman
