Reggae music's one-rhythm (or "riddim") albums have contributed a uniquely Jamaican take on the compilation album since the dawn of the dancehall era in the early `80s. While prolific Jamaican studios have birthed literally thousands of backing tracks possessing colorful titles such as "Diwali," "Bruck Out," and "Joyride," keeping tabs on the multitude of versions voiced by the crowded field of dancehall performers can be daunting for all but the most hardened fans of the genre. CLASSIC RHYTHMS VOL. 2 makes short work of keeping current on the latest riddims, collecting three versions each of "Tixx," "20 Cent," "Time Bomb," and "Amharic," as voiced by some of dancehall's biggest stars, including Mr. Vegas, Buju Banton, Elephant Man, and many others.
