Basically, this triple-disc is a solid compilation that covers all the years that Dexter Gordon recorded for Blue Note Records: from the early through the mid-'60s, and then the comeback, Live at the Keystone, years later in the '70s, and it includes some of the sides from unreleased albums in the late '60s, as well. The material is all quite even, and the set is beautifully sequenced. The sound is absolutely top-notch. Given the price tag -- even for an import -- this collection is a terrific introduction to the artist, or an excellent addendum for those who only possess the early recordings from the Blue Note years. ~ Thom Jurek
