This live date from 1989 was performed by the Hawkwind lineup of Dave Brock (of course), bassist Alan Davey, drummer Richard Chadwick, and keyboardist Harvey Bainbridge. The set list follows much of what the band was performing during the late '80s and early '90s and includes decent if not overly inspirational performances of "Magnu," "Brainbox," "Hassan I Sahbah," and "Damnation Alley." That said, the medley pieces, such as "Assault and Battery/The Golden Void" and the "Back in the Box" suite (which includes a detour into "Arrival in Utopia"), sound genuinely inspired. There are 15 tracks in all, spread over two discs, and the best surprise is saved for last as "Ejection" mutates into two very long surprise jams. The sound quality is a bit better than acceptable and the price is fair. ~ Thom Jurek
