This two-disc, 36-track set serves as an excellent retrospective of the lengthy career of reggae legend Max Romeo. Though he's best known for racy and controversial tracks like "Wet Dream" (included here, of course), Romeo is a classic roots reggae artist, as his rocksteady rhythms and Rastafarian themes ("Let the Power Fall," "Macabee Version") will attest. All of Romeo's most memorable tracks are accounted for here, and his lustrous voice, backed by golden-age reggae production, makes 36 CARAT GOLDEN HITS a pleasure.
