Despite winning a Juno award in her native Canada and contributing to the seminal Sub Pop early-'90s indie act Eric's Trip, Julie Doiron's prolific work as a singer-songwriter has never quite received the accolades it deserves stateside. I CAN WONDER WHAT YOU DID WITH YOUR DAY is a decidedly more effervescent departure from her earlier brooding, melancholy solo work, as evidenced by song titles like "Glad To Be Alive". Even though the album retains the folksy tones of previous LPs, Doiron interjects some well-timed and much-appreciated fuzz and distortion, no doubt drawing from her early indie days. I CAN WONDER WHAT YOU DID WITH YOUR DAY should provide Dorian with the acclaim that has, until now, eluded her.|
