PURPLEFACE is the follow-up to this Seattle band's well-received MOONBEAMS LP. One song, "Written in Heart Signs," is a reworking of a MOONBEAMS track, and the other three are more of the same. The happy news is that that's a good thing. Head guy Scott Reitherman, who records his and others' music at a home studio, has a sophisticated sense of songcraft and sonics. "Ship" is probably the best example of the TMTS sound; it straddles the line between bedroom pop and busy live instrumentation. It's both intimate and rousingly complex.
