Helmed by jazz producer Creed Taylor, and recorded with an all-star cast of fusion, soul, and jazz musicians (George Benson, Maceo Parker, Ron Carter, Billy Cobham), this is the early-'70s Creed Taylor sound adapted to pop and soul music, putting Phillips' impassioned vocals in slick, mellow soul-jazz grooves.
