This interesting mid '90s release pairs up legendary reggae crooner Dennis Brown with former Black Uhuru frontman Junior Reid. This overlooked album features Reid on production. Notably different from Brown's other mid '90s releases on RAS, NOTHING LIKE THIS really stands out for its unique sound and the fact that it spawned two relatively successful singles.
At this point in his career, Reid's production skills were beginning to mature, and his teaming with Brown seems to have brought out the best in Reid. "There's Nothing Like This" takes an extremely chilled out, almost non-reggae tact, with some nice muted trumpet melodies laced throughout. Brown sounds absolutely comfortable on this unusual track. Reid joins in on vocals on two tracks, the upbeat and rootsy "Dance Nah Keep" (the album's best cut) and "It's Not a One Man Thing", a popular track also featuring Gregory Isaacs.|
