Bridging the sound of mid-1980s Paisley Underground dream-pop and early '90s alternative rock/ shoegaze from both sides of the pond, this bi-gender Brooklyn quartet is pure melodic bliss for lovers of music both jagged and sweet. On "Stay Alive," the vibe is all Pale Saints, gentle and ethereal, while cleverly titled songs like "Young Adult Friction" crackle with David Gedge-worthy post-punk riffs. PAINS OF BEING PURE is everything that its title implies, but in its very beauty and simplicity, this LP offers little room for debate about any corresponding lack of depth.

結成からわずか1年半というスピードで世界中のインディー・ポップ好きを虜にしてしまったNY発の4人組。愛嬌のあるメロディーとシューゲイザー風味の轟音ギターが絡み合う様は、ダイナソーJrとヴァセリンズが結婚しちゃったみたいな趣。粗削りながらも放たれるエネルギーのピュアさで、80年代初頭のアノラック・サウンドを見事に再現している。もしカート・コバーンが生きていたらお気に入りの一枚にしてたはず。

ギターポップ、シューゲイザー好きなら間違いのない一枚。ポップなメロディセンス、男女ボーカルと胸熱なポイントを押さえてます。初期スーパーカーをもっと甘くした感じです。
