Aman Iman [LP]

デヴェンドラ・バンハートもジョアンナ・ニューサムも西アフリカの音楽にかなり影響を受けていると話してくれたことがあるが、となれば、おそらくはこのマリ出身のグループ、ティナリウェンも彼らの耳に届いているに違いない。日本では〈砂漠のブルース〉として紹介されることが多いサハラ砂漠周辺の音楽シーンのなかでも、彼らは近年のロバート・プラントのブレーンでもあるジャスティン・アダムズがプロデューサーとしてバックアップしていることもあって、とりわけパーカッションのイビツな使い方などに現代的なセンスを感じることができる。この新作でも、風通しの良いリズムをバックに数本のギターと断片的な歌のフレーズが艶めかしく絡み合いながら揺れ動く様子が印象的で、今日のフリー・フォークと呼ばれる連中の音楽性とも共通するものがありそうだ。UKではインディペンディエンテからのリリース。英米での高評価に期待が募る。
