The incredibly prolific avant-garde saxophonist Anthony Braxton has been releasing recordings of his dense compositions and challenging improvisations since the late `60s. This disc captures Braxton leading the Diamond Curtain Wall Quartet, which includes guitarist Mary Halvorson, bassoonist Katherine Young, and coronetist Taylor Ho Bynum, performing in Moscow in the summer of 2008. The performance consists of structured improvisations from the quartet delivered against a backdrop of laptop-generated electronic drones.
