James Morrison may have the same last name as the late lead singer of the Doors, but the young Brit has much more in common with the confessional singer-songwriters of the 1970s: he's much closer to James Taylor or Jackson Browne than "Light My Fire." Songs for You, Truths for Me is as earnest and self-revealing as its title, filled with songs that directly address Morrison's girlfriend and other intimates, set to gentle adult contemporary soft rock tunes. デビュー作『Undiscovered』以来、2年ぶりとなる新作。UK本国で初登場3位をマークしたことは想定内だったが、USでもジョン・メイヤーの前座に抜擢されるなど、その実力がようやく認められてきた模様。今作も持ち前のハスキーでソウルフルな歌唱がまっすぐに届くメロディー・オリエンテッドな内容に仕上がっていて、ここ日本での人気も引き続きキープできそうだ。ネリー・ファータドとのデュエット曲もグッド。
