名門YLが生誕80年を迎えたラウタヴァーラを祝う！！
＜YL＞の略称で親しまれているヘルシンキ大学男声合唱団。1883年の創設以来、フィンランド音楽シーンの中心グループとして活動をつづけてきました。1980年からYLを指揮してきたマッティ・ヒュオッキとYLによるラウタヴァーラの男声合唱作品集。YLとラウタヴァーラの関係は長く、「歌い手」を初演した1956年以後、YLはラウタヴァーラの創作に深く関わってきました。「4つのセレナード」と「アレクシス・キヴィの詩に寄せる4つの歌」はYLの委嘱作。『カレヴァラ』をテクストに伝統の朗誦スタイルを反映した「歌い手」。リルケ、ランボー、エルアール、ゲーテ、ディキンソン、ハマーショルド、ホイットマンらの詩をテクストとする全11曲の「人生の書」。それぞれにテクストが考察され、「光の天使」（交響曲第7番）以後のロマンティックな音楽とは作風の異なる作品です。この録音には、オペラ「ラスプーティン」の4つのロマンスを初めて歌ったパシ・ヒュオッキ指揮のタッラ・ヴォーカルアンサンブルも参加。「T・S・エリオットの2つの前奏曲」、「人生の書」のうち6曲など、全部で14のトラックを担当しています。 ［コメント提供；キングインターナショナル］
