Sunshine, pretty girls, and parties are in no short supply in the Republican stronghold, and while listening to Japanese Motors' self-titled debut, all three come to mind. That's not to say the band has a shiny sound: far from it. The surfaces on JAPANESE MOTORS are all worn and frayed, and the good vibes are warped with the cheap brew of "Coors Light." The loose jangle of "Crooked Gun" and "Better Trends" also position them as laidback siblings to their chaotic label-mates, Black Lips.
