〈アンタの行動ってかなりゲイっぽいのに、男好きってわけでもないのね〉とか〈女のコにキスしたら気持ち良かったわ〉とか、ドキっとするような歌詞で現在大ブレイク&物議を醸し中のカリフォルニア・ガール（24歳）がアルバム・デビューを飾った。〈US版リリー・アレン〉なる触れ込みでの登場だけど、サウンドはもっとロッキッシュ。詰まり気味のしゃくり歌唱はモロにグウェン・ステファニー流儀だし、音の質感やレトロなコスチュームも含めて筆者はノー・ダウトの『Tragic Kingdom』を思い出してしまった次第。とはいえ、Drルーク製の“Hot N Cold”では80'sライクなディスコ・ビートに乗ってみたり、イマのモードもしっかりキャッチしている。小生意気な言動も含めて、今後シーンを大いに沸かせてくれそうだ!
