This is a no-nonsense, or little-nonsense at any rate, video record of an Oliver/Dawson Saxon show at Pennington's Night Club in Bradford in May 2002. Fronted by original Saxon members Graham Oliver (on vocals) and Steve Dawson (on bass), the band run through a dozen songs, with one-time Saxon member Nigel Durham on drums. It's got the standard heavy metal concert visuals: showy posturing, colored lights and lasers, and fire-red glow, interspersed with small documentary snippets of the band goofing around offstage. It's nothing to redefine the image that many listeners have of metal, either cinematically or musically. But the band do go through the moves slickly and confidently, even if the most unpredictable moment is when bassist Steve Dawson dons a Blue Meanies-like oversized glove to point at the audience during the set-closing "Devil Rides Out." Also unpredictable, in a not-sure-why-they-thought-this-was-necessary kind of way, are the shots of topless women frolicking in the band's proximity during the credits. The DVD also includes a "bonus track" of "Strong Arm of the Law," with different footage than what's shown when the same song plays during the main portion of the program. [A DVD version was released in 2008.] ~ Richie Unterberger
