Recording information: I.V. Labs. This debut album confirms what fans of the band's live show already knew, but that those who'd only heard the first single, "Chicago," didn't, namely, that the Uglysuit are not simple popsters. "Chicago" is a standout, but its relatively straightforward melody and structure gives no indication of the kind of stretching out the Oklahoma City six-piece displays on ambitious cuts like "Brownblue's Passing" and "..And We Became Sunshine." A duo with a laptop might have crafted "Chicago," but you can hear all six members (all of whom are credited with guitar in addition to something else) on the rest of these reaching, gently twangy tracks.
