This budget-priced, British import anthology from the stylish sophisti-pop duo Everything But the Girl (Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt) collects 12 tracks culled from albums released during the 1990s. Unfairly pegged as a jazz-pop group in the '80s, Everything But the Girl had moved into more electronic and dance-pop territory by the time the '90s rolled around. Though they remained as unpredictable as ever, they carved out a unique niche for themselves with a series of elegant pop hits like "Walking Wounded," "Temperamental," and "Before Today," all of which can be found on this perfectly acceptable collection. However, listeners looking for an overview that encompasses the duo's whole career would be better off with either 1996's Best of Everything But the Girl or 2001's Home Movies: The Best of Everything But the Girl. ~ James Christopher Monger|
