Though Sissy Spacek found fame as an actress, she actually started out as a singer, and subsequent to her successful portrayal of Loretta Lynn in biopic COAL MINER'S DAUGHTER, Spacek tried to launch a career as a country singer. On her lone album, 1983's HANGIN' UP MY HEART, she's supported by then-cutting-edge progressive-country artists like Rodney Crowell and Rosanne Cash. Spacek strikes a balance between a classic country sound and a more contemporary/pop-oriented approach. Though she never followed it up, HANGIN' UP MY HEART did surprisingly well, landing in the Top 40 Country Albums chart.
