A collaboration between singer/songwriter Ed Ball (who released several albums under the name Times) and Television Personalities' Dan, POP GOES ART! is a lo-fi mod revival gem. Released in 1982, concurrent with Britain's mod revival scene spearheaded by the Jam, POP GOES ART! is full of clever, catchy Britpop hooks and flourishes of sonic experimentation (check out Treacy's guitar on closer "This is Tomorrow"). Fans of both Television Personalities and classic Britpop tunes should seek out this overlooked gem.
