Original score written by Nino Rota. Liner Note Author: Christopher Evans. The celbrated Italian composer Nino Rota brilliantly scores King Vidor's 1956 adaptation of Tolstoy's literary classic. With a full choir and bombastic fanfares, WAR AND PEACE brings back the pageantry of "Old Hollywood." Rota is a master of accentuating the mood and emotional content of films through the use of tempo shifts, traditional melodies, and tasteful instrumentation. In fact, his score is just as dramatic and thought-provoking as the film itself. Rota's dexterous, inventive musicianship would later garner him several awards for his work on THE GODFATHER films.
