Although the pieces that Jason Spacemen and the Sun City Girls composed for Harmon Korine's film MR. LONELY are of the ephemeral variety typical of film scores, they are easily identifiable as the work of their respective composers. The pulsing cosmic vignettes "Blues 1" and "Blues 2 (Intro)" recall Spiritualized at their most entrancingly soporific, while "Spook," "Steppe Spiritual," and "Vine Street Piano" speak to the well-known eclecticism and penchant for world and folk themes of the Girls' Bishop brothers, Alan and Richard. When considering Korine's ability to create a certain wrenchingly uncomfortable beauty in his films, Jason Spacemen and the Sun City Girls make for perfect musical complements.
