K'Naan's 2005 studio effort The Dusty Foot Philosopher was a monumental critical success: it earned the Canadian hip-hop artist a Juno Award for Best Rap Recording in 2006, and featured two singles, "Soobax" and "Strugglin'," both of which helped put K'Naan on the map as a respected Canadian hip-hop musician: a title that is held by few.
