Taking their name from a classic tune by lounge king Martin Denny, Quiet Village (aka British sonic sculptors Matt Edwards and Joel Martin) crafts largely downbeat electronica that looks back to the lounge/exotica of 1960s and `70s as inspiration. Highlights of this fittingly cinematic debut include the orchestral, John Barry-esque "Victoria's Secret" and the eerily funky "Circus of Horror."

レキッドやレディオ・スレイヴとしてヒットを飛ばしまくっている鬼才＝マット・エドワーズと、サイケ・ロックやホラー系サントラのコレクターとして有名なジョエル・マーティンのユニット、クワイエット・ヴィレッジのファースト・アルバムがついに到着しました。マップ・オブ・アフリカで知られるホワットエヴァー・ウィ・ウォントより数年前からシングルをリリースしていたものの、今回のリリースは!K7から。あのマーティン・デニーの名盤からユニット名を拝借したというだけあって、モンドでエキゾなラウンジ風味が全編を覆い尽くしているんですが、そこにサイケデリック感覚やネオ・バレアリックなエッセンスをたっぷりと注入して、極上のリスニング・アルバムに仕上げています。美しい。
