Personnel: Mitchum Chin (guitar); Paul Crossdale (keyboards); Donald "Danny Bassie" Dennis (bass instrument); Kirk Bennett (drums). Unlike his famous brother Pliers, Richie Spice's approach to dancehall emphasizes roots more than pop. GIDEON BOOT, Spice's 2008 release, finds him more firmly in roots territory, championing Rastafarian themes and referencing rhythms for old school reggae (tunes like "Wrap Up a Draw" and "World Crisis" are cases in point). In fact, GIDEON BOOT plays much more like a classic roots reggae album than most of the output from Spice's contemporary dancehall peers, and the artist's passionate voice (including his compelling flips into falsetto) make the journey even sweeter.

タム（ドレッドをまとめる帽子）を脱ぎ捨てたジャケ写に、いよいよ貴公子も〈悪ラスタ〉に転向か?と少々不安になったが、ガーネット・シルクの初期作品群を手掛けるなど、カルチャー系の音作りに定評のあるデジタル・Bとタッグを組んだ新作は、〈Johnny Too Bad〉や〈Hold On〉といったリメイク・リディムに加え、人気のミディアム〈Guardian Angel〉を乗りこなすなど話題曲が目白押し。フィフス・エレメントを離れたせいか、前作までに聴けた血管はち切れんばかりの雄叫びは影を潜め、お決まりのフレーズ〈ナナナナナナイェー〉も実にマイルドな印象だ。ただ、角が取れてもリッチーの粛々と語られるメッセージは変わらず。強靭な魂が込められた一曲一曲が心に沁みる、素晴らしいアルバムである。

Gideon Boot｜CDアルバム
今やラスタシンガーの筆頭となったRichie Spiceの2008年新作。
大Hit Riddim『Gurdian Angel』使用の"⑧The World Is A Cycle"は勿論ですが、それすらも流れのアクセント程度でトータルとしての出来がかなり高いレベルでまとまっています。
冒頭の"Babylon Falling"からこの一枚の内容の良さが現れています。
他も"⑥World Crisis"や"⑩The Plane Land"など外れがない一枚です。
