Italian pianist Enrico Pieranunzi is a disciple of the delicately lyrical and thoughtfully swinging style of Bill Evans, while ace bassist Marc Johnson was in fact a member of Evans's last trio before the latter's death. Both, not so incidentally, possess exemplary dexterity and quiet flair on their respective instruments. They've recorded together before in a trio context, and they display the same almost magical empathy as a duo. Masterfully melding classic standards and glistening originals, this pair has created a nigh-on perfect chill-out disc.
