The latest in the archives of now-defunct legendary venue CBGB is a crisply recorded 2002 set from NY hardcore standard-bearers H2O. A group that grew up in the scene sheltered by the club's legendary Sunday hardcore matinees, H2O is an appropriate choice for one of these volumes. The band, which was generally more melodic than their contemporaries, rips through a set of their nostalgic, positive hardcore, including songs from all their releases, such as their debut's "5-Year Plan" and "Spirit of `84," and the title track from THICKER THAN WATER. For those too young to have gone to CBGB, this will have to do.
