As the title would suggest, My Friends All Died in a Plane Crash is not a frivolous dance pop album; however, it is surprisingly upbeat. With the saccharine voices of Morgane Imbeaud and Mark Daumail overlaying subtle sounds of the piano and ukulele, everything comes together to create a surprising fresh first album from this French duo. While French may have been an obvious choice when writing lyrics, Cocoon is of the same mindset as fellow countrymen Phoenix and the Bewitched Hands. in that they prefer to reach audiences in English. Great news for non-French speakers, who will want to sing along with the lovely singles "Chupee" and "On My Way." ~ Celeste Rhoads

フランスでじわじわと人気を高め、気付けばゴールド・ディスク目前という話題のデュオによる初作だ。ちょっぴり古ぼけたジャケからも窺えるように、ノスタルジックで可愛らしいフォーク・ナンバーがズラリ。それぞれがマルチ・プレイヤーとして活躍してきただけあって、バンジョーやウクレレ、チェロなど多くの楽器を自在に操りながらみずからの心情を音と言葉で表現し、じんわりと沁みる儚～い歌を聴かせてくれる。
