Inspired by the country of its title, trumpeter Chris Botti's 'Italia' is a musical evocation of romance and an exploration of the territories between the classical and jazz worlds. Mellower, more reserved cuts such as the interpretation of Ennio Morricone's 'Gabriel's Oboe' showcase the accomplished languid style Botti has become synonymous with, while 'I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face' sees Botti's smooth jazz influences shining through on a track that features a 1957 recording of Dean Martin's vocal performance.
