All tracks have been digitally remastered. 1975's NIGHTRIDER is hugely beloved by Charlie Daniels Band fans, who think its mix of bluegrass, rock and pop strikes the perfect balance between the edgier sound of the band's early albums and the slick commercialism of their URBAN COWBOY-era hits. (The band performs this album's rollicking opening track, "Texas," in a bar scene in that movie.) Daniels and crew, including new recruit Tom Crain, whose "Franklin Limestone" is a highlight and whose songs and playing would contribute much to the group's next several albums, explore pure country somewhat more than usual on this album. "Willie Jones" and "Birmingham Blues" are Johnny Cash-like story songs, while the more rock-oriented "Funky Junky" and "Evil" explore the moralism that would become more prevalent on Daniels' later albums.
