ココロ癒されるドリーミー・ポップを聴かせるボルチモアの男女混合デュオ、ビーチ・ハウスがBella Unionからセカンド・アルバムをリリース。都会の喧騒を抜け出して、静かな＜海の家＞まで小旅行。オルガンとスライドギターが奏でるシンプルで心地の良いメロディ、包み込むような優しい女性ヴォーカルは必聴。ダニエル・ジョンストン「サム・シング・ラスト・ア・ロング・タイム」のカヴァーも収録。ヴェルヴェット・アンダーグランドからマイ・ブラッディ・ヴァレンタイン、ヨ・ラ・テンゴから影響を受けたであろうドリーム・ポップ感は彼等独自のセンス。クラシックなバロック・ロックと60年代ポップ、モータウンへの愛情から生まれるソウルフルなサウンドとヴィクトリアの持つゴージャスで繊細なヴォーカルは夏の終わりと秋の始まりのノスタルジックな雰囲気と過去の甘い記憶を思い起こさせる。

2006年にデビューを飾ったボルティモア在住の男女2人組サイケ・ポップ・デュオ（うちひとりはミシェル・ルグランの姪っ子!）が、2作目にして日本初お目見え。リヴァーブかけすぎのオルガン、スライド・ギター、ヴォーカルをホワ～っとまとめた楽曲群は、ドリーミーかつメランコリックで、瞼を開いているのも困難なほどこちらを脱力させるもの。ダニエル・ジョンストンのカヴァーなんて、春眠よりもタチが悪いよ!
