The music of hyper-prolific Vermonter Dean Wells, recorded under the moniker Capstan Wells, comes in soft-pedaled, yet fast and furious, in brief sonic blasts of songs that rarely make it past the two-minute mark. But like Lou Barlow, Robert Pollard, Mike Watt, and many others before him, he pours a lifetime into his short, stark lo-fi compositions. Further, like fellow recluse Daniel Johnston, there's an inescapable sweetness to the 29 melodic notions throughout the 2007 release ENVIRO MAIDEN.
