ive Recorded at Rock Werchter is a mix that literally lives up to its name, as Belgian DJ Dr. Lektroluv was captured at a show-closing performance at said rock festival. If Dr. Lektroluv is a crowd-pleaser first and foremost, he does so in a way that actually honors the songs instead of giving in to bad approximations of Fatboy Slim's style, as has been the case in some corners in recent years. As a collection of 2007-era tracks plus a variety of older favorites it's a nice overview -- hearing figures like Feist and, perhaps ironically, the Klaxons turned into full-on dancefloor fodder instead of apologetic engagements with same is always enjoyable, and the respective remixes by Boys Noize and Soulwax, while neither are truly remarkable, are still good listens. Meanwhile, hearing LFO's "Freak" dropped into the middle of the set is a treat and a half, while the concluding remix of Moby's "Go" by Trentemøller makes for a spectacular ending, as the crowd vocally indicates. Other selections include "Kiss My Trance" by the Subs and Polysics' "Coelakanth Is Android [MSTRKRFT Remix]." ~ Ned Raggett|
