Force Inc時代に誕生したこのUusitalo。Force Inc閉鎖後、封印していたこのプロジェクトですが、2006年、数年ぶりにアルバム「Tulenkantaja」で復活。そして、2007年更にアルバムをリリース。ジャズ・ドラマーとしての経歴を持つRipattiだからこそできるイノヴェーティブなドラム演奏とリズム・クリエイション。デジタル・プログラミング一切無しのリアル・ライブ演奏で、彼の亡き父親が残した演劇作品「Karhunainen（熊女）」に捧げたサントラ的なサウンドスケープ/ストーリーが展開します。

Uusitalo is yet another moniker for Helsinki-born producer Sasu Ripatti (aka Vladislav Delay, Luomo). Best known for a cut-up style of minimal techno that employs both treble-kicking clicks and bass-heavy tones, Ripatti, under his Uusitalo pseudonym, expands these soundscapes to mine the deep caverns of the bass drum. KARHUNAINEN, the second album by Uusitalo, veers slightly away from the first by using all analog equipment and no digital sound processing. The result is still the same techno-dub bounce, but with a warmth that comes from a human hand making rhythm on a surface.|

セルフ・レーベルのヒューム設立後は、ヴラディスラヴ・ディレイやルオモなどの名義で密かにリリース・ラッシュを続ける北欧の不穏トロニカ王子。今回は本人いわく〈ドラマーとしてのアウトプット〉だというウージタロー名義の、昨年の『Tulenkantaja』に続く新作だ。亡き父の書いた戯曲〈熊女〉を表題に、同作に捧げられたサントラでもある。チェイン・リアクション期を彷彿とさせる簡素でダビーなエレクトロ・ミニマル集だ。
