Von Sudenfed: Jan St. Werner, Mark E. Smith , Andi Toma. Recorded in late 2006, just after the temporary flame-out of the Fall while on an American tour, TROMATIC REFLEXXIONS is singer and sole Fall mainstay Mark E. Smith's first solo project. As if to underscore the mercurial Mancunian's need for a sounding board, Von Sudenfed is actually a collaboration between Smith and the German electronic duo Mouse On Mars, and sounds like one would expect that collaboration to sound: Smith's trademark yarling rants, perfected over nearly three decades of fronting the Fall, are backed with chilly, austere electronic dance music on tracks such as the first single, "Can't Get Enough," and the sneering social commentary "The Young, The Faceless and the Codes."
