Personnel: Oli Frost (vocals, guitar); James "Noo" New (vocals, keyboards); Niall Buckler (vocals); James "Tate" Arguile (guitar); London Session Orchestra (strings). Audio Mixers: Mark Williams ; Rich Costey; Cenzo Townshend. Recording information: Britannia Row; Carmen Recording Studios, Granada, Spain; Miloco; Olympic Studios, London, England. Illustrator: James Taylor Jr. Photographer: Ellis Parrinder. If you liked the Cribs, the Pigeon Detectives, and the Automatic, the chances are that this album was also on the shopping list. Unfortunately, it got rather lost and even with three singles released, only one of which reached the Top 40, it could not break into corresponding high positions on its chart, spending just one week at number 42. The three singles released were "Out of the Question," "She's Got You High," and "What Would Steve Do." "These Things Move in Threes," although featuring reasonably melodic singing, had too much screaming feedback whenever James "Noo" New's guitar was the prominent instrument. "Song B" was a Wall of Sound although the band remained in control, the crashing drums at the end of each verse allowing the vocal to be heard. There was, however, a rather strange interlude in the middle where the song went off on a complete tangent, and it seemed to have two endings when the song was finished, but the band wanted to continue with some further feedback effects. "Light Up This Room" was the band's token ballad on the album, which they really shouldn't have attempted as New's voice didn't suit the style at all. The album ended with a seven-minute track "Down Down Down," mostly instrumental which was given time to build and develop and, consequently, was the most interesting track on the whole album. Shame it ended there. ~ Sharon Mawer

'These Things Move In Threes' is the debut album from Sussex-based rockers Mumm-Ra. Mixing pleasant melodies with an indie-rock edge, the album is packed full of off-kilter pop gems that bring to mind the work of bands such as Athlete and Feeder. Includes the singles 'She's Got You High', 'Out Of The Question' and 'What Would Steve Do'.|
