Given their penchant for all things kitsch, including B-grade horror movies, crunching heavy metal, and glitter-ball dance music, it seemed only a matter of time until My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult went lounge. Surprise! THE FILTHIEST SHOW IN TOWN (2007) does just that. Slowed down to a chintzy, drunken wooze, the beats on the record don't pulse and pump the way they usually do on Kult outings. Instead, they are intentionally cheap and synthetic, accompanied by equally thin saxophones and the ambience of late-night Vegas-style cheese. Of course, in the Kult's hands this is all turned into something dark, ironic, and oddly artistic.
