Liner Note Author: Neil Slaven. Recording information: Cannes, France (1983). Legendary bluesman B.B. King had reached his 80th year when this concert was recorded, but he was investing as much energy as ever into his soulful singing and crisp, precise guitar solos. In the latter part of his career, health issues caused him to perform sitting down, but that didn't stop him from serving up a mess of blues that's electric in every sense of the word. The throaty wail and emotive picking that power this selection of classics from King's vast repertoire ("Rock Me Baby," "The Thrill Is Gone," "Why I Sing the Blues") display as much intensity of feeling and singularity of purpose as you'll find in even the earliest of the blues giant's recordings.
