Bay Area eccentrics Subtle are probably everything you can imagine besides their namesake. Led by the oblique poetry of cLOUDdEAD rhymesmith Doseone along with a coterie of his Anticon labelmates, Subtle's second album FOR HERO: FOR FOOL ups the ante on weirdness. Alternating stream-of-consciousness raps with musical non-sequiturs, Subtle's aural surrealism recalls the Residents and Devo at their most absurd.
