Widely considered to be one of Dennis Brown's finest albums, WOLVES AND LEOPARDS is an excellent example of top-notch late-1970s reggae. Although renowned for his romantic Lovers Rock style, the smooth-voiced Brown largely sticks to socially conscious themes on this sterling set, which features production by Niney Holness and classic cuts such as the groove-laden title track and the dreamy, dub-heavy single "Here I Come." For those venturing into Brown's catalogue, this should be one of the first stops.

オリジナルは1977年のリリースで、プロデュースは“ナイニー・ジ・オブザーバー”で知られるウィンストン・ホーネス。ナイニーの元で、デニスはボブ・マーリーに次ぐ男、レゲエ・プリンスの称号を獲得するビッグ・チューンを大量にリリースしましたが、本作にはそのビッグ・チューン、デニスの代表曲と呼ばれるチューンが満載！収録曲全てがレゲエの定番曲で、現在のダンスの現場でも今なお流れ続ける永遠の名曲ばかり。
