Los Angeles band the Adored craft sparkling dance-punk tunes that draw heavily on the imagery of their native California. With a clear guitar sound left low in the mix and the occasional synthesizer, A NEW LANGUAGE has a very pop feel to it, with a touch of surf guitar mixed in. But the rhythms are pure punk, especially the rubber-band bass guitar bouncing all over the place. The songs present a ragged vision of California, one that certainly isn't any paradise. But in the Adored's rendering, it sounds pretty great.
