Chrome guitarist Helios Creed's videos are teamed up with those of his iconic band for a short but sweet picture of industrial rock and avant-garde graphics in kinetic motion. Not as structured as the legendary sci-fi leaning videos by Cars keyboard player Greg Hawkes and Jeff Hudson (of Jeff & Jane and the Rentals), these are chaotic and sometimes mind numbing (in a good way) episodes that are essential for parties and general mayhem. An interesting facet of this DVD is something called "A Timeline," the bonus material a written history putting three decades of Chrome and Helios Creed into some kind of perspective on the disc, which seems to be the way of the future, paper liner notes evaporating to be replaced by embedded text. There's bonus footage from both ensembles, Chrome live in 1998, Helios Creed taped in 2006. Forty-three minutes is not a lot of DVD in this day and age of Liza Minnelli and the group Free giving tons of information on Liza with a "Z" and Forever, respectively, but this is a unique set of statements by Creed and his former band, and these creative and experimental essays deserve to be available to the masses, as well as those who care about thought-provoking sounds and images. ~ Joe Viglione|
