Compton's Most Wanted pioneered the West Coast's laid-back gangsta sound starting with their 1990 debut IT'S A COMPTON THING, laying the groundwork for the enormous success of Dr. Dre and Snoop and what would later be known as the G-Funk era. On MUSIC TO GANG BANG, the crew's second official release since reuniting with MC Eiht after his string of successful solo albums, CMW do their best to bring it back to the original blueprint that started it all, relying heavily on 1970s funk samples, computerized electro beats, and street soldier rhymes.
