MAGIC CITY is the sophomore release from rapper MC Magic, and it serves up a brand of hip-hop similar to that on his first solo release, as well as the work he did with his crew, Nb Ridaz. Like Nb Ridaz, MC Magic alternates between thumping, hardcore numbers and romantic hip-hop ballads, with a unique emphasis on the latter. Magic's skill with silky R&B samples, synthesized voice lines, and smooth-as-butter beats creates the perfect backdrop for his amorous rhymes--the stand-out element of MAGIC CITY. Being romantic is a difficult task in a genre known for its unchecked macho posturing, but MC Magic handles it with a gentle aplomb.
