完全復活! デビュー以来常に最前線で闘い続けてきたパール・ジャムだが、それでもこの作品に対しては〈復活〉という言葉が相応しいように思う。爆音で突っ走る冒頭の3曲をはじめ、『Ten』や『Vs』の頃の衝動を取り戻したかのような勢いに満ちた楽曲が並ぶ。メンバー自身が〈最高傑作〉と言い放ち、初めてセルフ・タイトルを冠したのにも頷ける。デビュー16年目の〈ファースト・アルバム〉──ここから彼らの新章が始まる。
